The 5 Top Reasons You Should Be Floating

Floating has started to pick up increasing traction over the past several years. From new facilities springing up across the country to an exposé from ESPN on the NBA World Champion GS Warriors, everyone seems to be catching on. After hundreds of questions from everyone we have come across since opening, we have narrowed down the majority of our answers to a few simple responses we wanted to share:

1. Stress Relief

As simple as the answer sounds, the stress relief provided by floating is actually pretty complex. Physically, your body is floating in a zero gravity environment. Tension relief in the lower back, neck and shoulders are a guarentee. Epsom Salt is Magnesium Sulfate, so as you float in 1000 lbs of the salt, your body absorbs the magnesium, a mineral that studies have shown to facilitate healthy heart rythyms and normalize blood pressure.

2. Clear History

Whenever my internet starts to run slow, or my computer doesn't seem to be running efficiently, the first thing I do is clear out my browing history and all of the cookies. Most of the time, wiping all the data clear speeds my computer right up. The sensory deprivation experience feels kind of like that for my own personal "clear history." The experience induces a meditative state, essentially helping you clear out the massive amounts of information and technology we subject ourselves to daily.

3. Sleeeeeep

Sleep is great. Magnesium has shown to help decrease cortisol, a stress hormone that contributes to sleepless nights. Sleeping longer and deeper is extremely valuable. With the recent cultural shift to health conscious, homeopathic living, the tank becomes another asset in a holistic approach to treating such a common and frustrating problem.

4. Recovery

From athletic competition to extended workweeks, everyone is subject to pushing their bodies to the limit, and finding the time to allow yourself and your body to recover can be difficult and time consuming. The combination of reasons 1-3, along with the phsyical attributes of magnesium and muscle recovery, floating provides an environment that can increase recovery times, allowing you to get back to what you need to do.

In an information based world where anything can be researched and identified immediately, I realized that somewhere along the way I lost touch with the trust I had in myself to get creative and work through problems and projects alike. I quickly turned to solutions via google, youtube, and any other "how to" DIY results that came up when I would get stumped. Floating in nothing, relaxed, recovering, and practicing meditation, answers, creative solutions, and expansive thinking started running through my head when it finally hit me: I don't ALWAYS need to utilize technology to work through projects and macro problem solving.
